Join Our Team as an IT Administrator and Developer at Sudbury Silk Mills

At Sudbury Silk Mills, we craft luxury fabrics with passion and commitment to sustainability in the heart of Suffolk. We’re seeking a dynamic and organised IT Administrator and Developer to join our team and make a difference!

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintaining to the best of your ability the company’s IT network, servers, PC’s, software and phones, essential for delivering business continuity
  • Ensuring the data integrity, security, reliability and availability of in-house bespoke database systems.
  • Applying expertise to design, develop, and maintain bespoke database applications, reports, and automation solutions to enhance business efficiency and decision-making through all stages of development, testing and delivery.
  • Ensuring that data backup procedures are adhered to and actioned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Computer Science undergraduate or similar, with practical exposure to IT support or infrastructure environments
  • Strong analytical, technical, interpersonal, client service and communication skills
  • An understanding of relational database principles
  • Strong skills in Excel – being able to manipulate and transpose data along with a good working knowledge of macros, pivot tables, lookups and using formula to populate and format data.

We are looking for a Weaver to join our established team.  To work in a supportive environment with a real emphasis on shared values and continuous improvement.  Offering a competitive salary, benefits and a profit share scheme.

The Role:

The best part of working at Sudbury Silk Mills is that no day is the same however to give you an idea what your new career may include:

  • Run a set of looms to weave fabric
  • Working as a part of a team
  • Be responsible for setting up a loom using the correct design and yarns
  • Oversee high fabric quality standards and weaving productivity on loom.

You will also have the ability to learn new skills by assisting different roles across the business or volunteer across any number of work colleague led working groups.

What you will bring:

In order to join our team, you will need:

  • To have a great eye for detail during the setting up and weaving of production orders
  • To be able to work independently when required but also work as part of a weaving team
  • To be able to stretch and reach all parts of the loom needed to undertake the task of fabric weaving
  • To be able to commit to working on an alternating shift pattern based on an annualised hours plan.

To succeed in the role, you will need:

  • The ability to manage your own time and workload to ensure that a set of looms are kept running efficiently and at the correct levels of quality and productivity
  • To enjoy working in a fast paced and reactive environment.

Our recruitment process

We pride ourselves on a transparent and fair recruitment process. We respond to every application, even if you haven’t been successful. Interviews are conducted by line managers and there is an opportunity to meet the team before you join us.

We advertise all roles internally, on our website, and in local job centres as well as carefully selected recruitment agencies. Due to the specialist nature of what we do, we form a close relationship with our recruitment agencies, spending time with them at the mill so they get a good feel for the type of person we are looking for.
