The Role

The best part of working at Sudbury Silk Mills is that no day is the same however to give you an idea what your new career may include:

  • Maintaining machinery that weave luxury products
  • Working with weavers to ensure machinery efficiency
  • Providing both preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Ensure that we have stocked repaired parts

What you will bring

In order to join our team, you will need:

  • A mechanical background
  • Experience working with weaving machinery
  • Good communication skills including providing precise written information

To succeed in the role, you will need:

  • To be willing to work unsociable hours due to the rotating shift pattern on an annualised hours basis
  • The ability to manage your own workload
  • To have the ability to work safely at heights

Our recruitment process

We pride ourselves on a transparent and fair recruitment process. We respond to every application, even if you haven’t been successful. Interviews are conducted by line managers and there is an opportunity to meet the team before you join us.

We advertise all roles internally, on our website, and in local job centres as well as carefully selected recruitment agencies. Due to the specialist nature of what we do, we form a close relationship with our recruitment agencies, spending time with them at the mill so they get a good feel for the type of person we are looking for.

We have seen many successful recruitments come from recommendation, so we offer a reward scheme for people who work at the mill, when they recommend someone to come and join our team.
